The Sword of Moses

The Sword of Moses is an apocryphal Jewish book of magic. Said to have been given to Moses along with the Torah on Mount Sinai, historians date its origin to late in the first millennium CE. I work with Yuval Harari’s English translation of the Sword of Moses, available online for free here.

The Sword’s incantations are written in “Aramaic,” but they are mostly gibberish words with only the appearance of sentences. Some words are thought to have originated from Greek or other languages, but no one is sure what—if anything—they are supposed to mean.

Not all incantation bowl inscriptions come from the Sword of Moses—many feature Bible verses like Psalms 23 (“The Lord is my shepherd”) and Numbers 6:24-26 (the Priestly Blessing). The survey at the end of the checkout will help us determine the best inscriptions for you. We will contact you for final approval before getting started.
